Star Trek: Prodigy is set in the Delta Quadrant, which was explored by Star Trek: Voyager for seven seasons, and the show takes place in 2283, which places Prodigy just a couple of years after its fellow animated series, Star Trek: Lower Decks.
Although the show is designed to be enjoyed by Star Trek fans of all ages, Star Trek: Prodigy's main focus is to bring new young fans into the Star Trek movie and TV franchise.
Created by Kevin and Dan Hageman, Star Trek: Prodigy is a joint production by CBS/Paramount and Nickelodeon.
While Star Trek: Prodigyis introducing an all-new cast of alien heroes and villains, a couple of major familiar faces from Star Trek: Voyager and even Star Trek: The Next Generation are reprising their roles.
